CARLOS SUCRE CALVO

RIP (1900 – 1987)

Carlos Sucre Calvo, born in 1900 in Aguadulce, Department of Panama, Republic of Colombia, was a prominent Panamanian educator and politician. Following in his father's footsteps, he ventured into primary education and later into a successful political career.

He earned his Bachelor of Laws degree in 1928, graduating from the National School of Law. His dedication and skills led him to serve in various political roles, rising to different ministries and legislatures.

However, his political career was cut short in 1969, a year after the coup d'état that installed the military dictatorship led by General Omar Torrijos in Panama. With the proscription of political parties, Sucre Calvo chose to leave his public and diplomatic career.

Instead, he decided to re-establish his private practice, collaborating with his son Carlos Sucre in an office that had originally been the garage of their home in the Bella Vista neighborhood. Through this new phase of his life, Sucre Calvo continued to contribute to the legal and social sphere of his country, leaving a legacy of integrity and commitment to his community.
